Sourdough Banana Bread

The addition of sourdough starter gives this banana bread a lovely crumb and wonderful flavor.

- 1½ cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3 very ripe bananas
- 1 cup active sourdough starter
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup pecans, roughly chopped
Preheat oven to 350℉.
Generously grease a 9 inch loaf pan. Set aside.
In a small mixing bowl combine flour, salt and baking soda. Stir to combine. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl mash bananas with a fork or use a pastry cutter.
Add starter, egg, vanilla, and softened butter to the mashed bananas. Stir to combine.
Add brown sugar and mix well.
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the bowl and stir until well combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped pecans.
Transfer batter into prepared loaf pan.
Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
Allow loaf to cool on a rack to room temperature in the pan before slicing.
