Heat oven to 350°F.
Slice butter and place in casserole dish.
Place casserole dish in the oven for several minutes, until butter is completely melted. Remove from oven.
Drain fruit.
Add fruit to melted butter in casserole dish and stir to combine.
In a mixing bowl stir together dry ingredients, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Add milk and vanilla to the dry ingredients and stir to combine.
Pour batter over butter/fruit mixture in casserole dish and spread out evenly.
Once oven reaches 350°, bake cobbler for 40-50 minutes or until crust turns golden brown and toothpick comes out clean. Don't overtake.
Best served warm with ice cream.
