Equipment

  • sharp knife
  • large cutting board

Ingredients

  • 6 Hoagie rolls, cut in half horizontally
  • 12 oz sliced Provolone cheese
  • 2 cups Iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • 4 oz smoked deli ham
  • 4 oz sliced pepperoni
  • 4 oz sliced salami
  • 1 beefsteak tomato, sliced
  • ½ large red onion, thinly sliced
  • cup Pepperoncini peppers, stems removed
  • cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions

Prepare rolls:

  • Cut Hoagie rolls in half horizontally and add half the slices of Provolone cheese onto the cut sides of the rolls. Place rolls in the oven and "broil" until the cheese is melted and rolls are toasted a deep golden brown along the edges. Remove toasted rolls from the oven and set aside while you prepare the filling.

Prepare filling:

  • Place shredded lettuce on a large cutting board.
  • Top with sliced red onions, tomato slices, and pepperoncini peppers.
  • Add salami, pepperoni, sliced smoked ham, and the remaining Provolone cheese to the pile.
  • Using a large sharp knife, roughly chop all the ingredients into bite sized pieces.
  • Add mayonnaise, mustard, red wine vinegar, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  • Continue to chop all the ingredients together until everything is well combined.

Assemble sandwiches:

  • Place heaping mounds of the filling onto half of the toasted rolls.
  • Top with the other toasted halves of the rolls.
  • Serve sandwiches with a side of potato chips, pickles or extra pepperoncini peppers.
