Cream Cheese Fried Wontons

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pkg square wonton wrappers
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 pkg imitation crab meat, broken up into pieces
  • 1 bunch green onions, sliced
  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • sweet chili sauce, for dipping

Instructions
 

  • Mix together softened cream cheese, green onions and crab meat until well combined.
  • Lay down a wonton wrapper on your worksurface.
  • Place about a teaspoon of the crab/cream cheese mixture in the center of the wonton wrapper.
  • Dip your finger in the bowl of water and moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper.
  • Fold wrapper in half to form a triangle.
  • Press edges together to seal in the filling, pressing out any noticeable big pockets of air.
  • Place a dab of water on the two opposing corners and bring outside points towrds the center.  Press together points forming nice little envelopes.
  • Heat oil in a large frying pan, oil should be about ½ to 1 inch deep.
  • Once oil is hot, use tongs and fry wontons, a few at a time, in the hot oil until nicely browned, turning them over ½ way through cooking so they brown evenly on both sides. 
  • Remove wontons from the oil with tongs and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve warm with Sweet Hot Chili sauce, Sweet & Sour sauce or Soy sauce for dipping.
