Crispy Chicken Wontons

A deep fired delicacy that is always a hit. Serve piping hot with your favorite dipping sauces.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded & diced
  • 1 can diced green chilis
  • 1 tbsp Jalapeño pepper, diced
  • cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 16 oz pkg. Wonton wrappers
  • vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, chicken, peppers, bread crumbs, salt and garlic. Mix thoroughly.
  • Place a teaspoon of the chicken filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  • Moisten edges of each wrapper with water and fold in half, forming a triangle.
  • Press edges together to seal and then fold two points toward the center forming an envelope shape.
  • In a wok or deep fryer, heat oil over high heat to 350°.
  • Fry wontons in oil, a few at a time, until golden brown, about 2 minutes.
  • Drain fried wontons on paper towel lined platter.
  • Serve warm with hot mustard, or sweet & spicy chili sauce or a wonton dipping sauce.

Notes

Shredded pork can be substituted for the chicken meat.
