Crispy Pan Fried Cheesy Beef Tacos

Filling corn tortillas with savory ground beef and cheddar cheese and frying them till crisp and the cheese melts makes them utterly irresistible!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 tbsp Taco seasoning mix
  • 8 oz Tomato sauce
  • 8 oz Water
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 10 Corn tortillas
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Toppings:

  • Tomatoes, chopped
  • Onion, diced
  • Cilanto, chopped
  • Iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • Sour cream
  • Salsa or hot sauce

Instructions
 

  • Brown a pound of ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off excess fat.
  • Add taco seasoning, tomato sauce, and water to the ground beef.
  • Stir to combine.
  • Bring to a simmer and cook until all liquid has cooked off and meat mixture is no longer runny. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • In another skillet heat a tablespoon vegetable oil over medium heat.
  • Once oil is hot place a corn tortilla in the pan.
  • Fry until tortilla softens, about 20-30 seconds.
  • Flip tortilla over and top with a layer of shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Add a heaping tablespoon of ground beef to half of the tortilla.
  • Fold tortilla in half and fry until golden brown, about a minute or so.
  • Flip taco over and fry the other side till golden brown.
  • Remove from skillet, allowing excess oil to drain off.
  • Place fried taco on a paper towel lined plate.
  • Sprinkle the outside of the taco shells with grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Continue until all the taco shells are cooked.
  • Top taco filling with your favorite toppings to serve.
