Cuisine Greek, Mediterranean
- 16 oz lean ground beef
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ tsp cumin
- 1½ tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 6 rounds Naan bread
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 Roma tomatoes, sliced
For the Mediterranean slaw:
- 2 cups iceberg lettuce, shredded
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp dill, chopped
- 4 tbsp Pepperoncini peppers, chopped
- ½ cucumber, peeled, seeded and diced
- ¼ cup red onion, finely chopped
- ⅓ cup Feta cheese, crumbled
- 2 tsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- ⅓ cup Tzatziki sauce, plus more for serving
Place ground beef, minced garlic cloves, smoked paprika, ground cumin, kosher salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix together until all ingredients are well combined. Divide meat into 6 equal sized portions.
Press each portion of the beef mixture onto a Naan bread round, pressing it as thin as possible all the way out to the edges of the Naan bread rounds.
Prepare the Mediterranean slaw:
In a large mixing bowl, combine shredded lettuce, chopped parsley, dill, Feta cheese, chopped pepperoncini peppers, chopped red onion, diced cucumber, Tzatziki sauce and lemon juice. Stir until well combined. Set aside while you cook the beef.
Cook Gyros:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Place naan bread, meat side down in the hot skillet. Press the Naan bread down firmly into the skillet with a spatula as the beef cooks to keep it as flat as possible, 3-4 minutes, or until beef is browned and cooked through.
Flip and cook Naan bread for another 1-2 minutes or until heated through.
Repeat with remaining Naan bread rounds.
