Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon, cut into ½ inch pieces
  • ½ small onion, finely diced
  • ½ small red bell pepper, chopped
  • 28 oz can pork and beans
  • ¼ cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325℉.
  • Cook bacon in a cast iron skillet until browned and crispy. Remove the cooked bacon from the skillet using a slotted spoon and place it on a paper towel lined plate to drain off excess fat.

  • Add beans, bbq sauce, brown sugar, mustard, pepper and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet.
  • Stir to combine all the ingredients.
  • Top beans with cooked reserved bacon.
  • Place skillet in preheated oven and bake uncovered for 1-1½ hours until nicely thickened.
  • Serve hot.
