Start with the box of your favorite wild rice mix. Follow the directions on the package and get it going first thing since it takes the longest to cook.
Once the rice is going, wash the mushrooms and cut off the stems. Melt a couple tablespoons of butter in a large frying pan over medium high heat.
When the butter is melted and hot, add the mushrooms and cook them until they release all their liquid, about 20 minutes. Turn them several times as you cook them so they cook evenly on both sides.
While the mushrooms are cooking, prepare the sirloin steak. Cut it into 1 inch cubes, removing any visible excess fat. Season liberally with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Once the mushrooms are done, remove them from the pan and set them aside; keep them warm.
Add another tablespoon of butter to the same pan. Once the butter is melted, add the cubed sirloin steak bites to the pan.
Allow the steak bites to brown and then turn them over to brown on the other side. The goal is to brown the edges and keep the centers red and juicy.
To serve, place a mound of wild rice in a large shallow bowl, top with a generous portion of sautéed mushrooms and steak bites.
Serve with a little A-1 steak sauce if desired.
