The Best Homemade Pizza Sauce

A handful of basic ingredients combine to make the best pizza sauce ever.

Equipment

  • Blender
  • ice cube trays

Ingredients
  

  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp sugar

Instructions
 

  • Place all the ingredients in the bowl of a blender.
  • Pulse until all the ingredients are well combined and you have a smooth paste.
  • Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.

Store leftover sauce:

  • Spoon any extra sauce in into ice cube trays and freeze.
  • Once sauce is frozen, transfer frozen cubes of sauce into ziplock bags and store in the freezer for up to 4 months.
  • A large pizza will use about 5-6 cubes of sauce, depending on how saucy you like it.
  • Defrost frozen sauce in the microwave or drop the entire ziplock baggie into a sink full of warm water to thaw in just a few minutes.
