Acorn Wreath DIY

Last year I collected hundreds, ok thousands, of acorns. I know, I have a serious acorn problem, but I just couldn’t help myself! Last fall produced a bumper crop of acorns. They were everywhere and I knew I could use them to create something really beautiful.

I made the most adorable acorn ornaments for my Christmas tree last year! You can read about how to preserve acorns and how to make these rustic ornaments here.

I have more ideas for how to use acorns in your decor. Read about how to make these beautiful acorn napkin rings for your fall table here.

I still have bags and bags of acorns in my stash and with fall in the air I knew it was time to use them to make this beautiful fall wreath. Finally a project that actually made a dent in my acorn stash 😂

Use a sponge to wipe off the acorns to clean off the acorn dust before using them

So get outside and collect a bag of acorns so you can make this beautiful wreath. I used a 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby when I purchased the straw wreath. This wreath cost me less than $3 to make and it turned out so beautifully!

Supplies you will need for this project:

  • 8-inch straw wreath
  • Floral wire
  • Acorns
  • Glue gun & glue sticks

Start by wrapping a length of floral wire to the straw wreath and form a loop as a hanger for your wreath. Once you have a hanging loop, begin gluing a row of acorns to the center of the straw wreath.

Add the next row placing the acorns as close together as you can to hide as much of the straw wreath as possible.

Continue adding rows of acorns placing them as close together as you can. Don’t worry too much if the wreath isn’t completely hidden. The color blends with the acorns and will look fine. You just don’t want any really large gaps in your wreath.

Don’t worry too much if the straw wreath peeks through a little bit. The natural color of the straw looks quite lovely with the darker chocolate brown of the acorns.

It’s starting to look pretty cool!

Once you have completely covered the straw wreath with acorns, hang your wreath and enjoy the little bit of fall that you have brought into your home.

A simple, elegant, fall accent for your home.

Let me know if you give this project a try. It’s an easy, inexpensive project that will bring the beauty of fall into your home.
