Light a candle in your room.
Every evening I as I prepare for bed I wash my face, brush my teeth, moisturize, change into my jammies and set out my clothes for the next day. The normal things that most everyone does each evening before turning in for the night. Nothing all that special, right?
I recently started lighting a candle in the bedroom when I go upstairs at the end of a busy day to complete my before bed routine. Just this simple little thing, lighting a scented candle, makes me feel special. It makes me feel like I am pampering myself as I go about my evening bedtime routine. It’s my quiet time that I have all to myself.

How long does it take to light a candle? 5 seconds? But the effect it has on my mood and how it makes me feel is really astonishing. Lighting that candle elevates my time alone into something just a little more special.
I’m encouraging you to spend just a few minutes at the end of your day to focus on just yourself. All day long, we focus all of our attention on work and our families. Making a little time at the end of the day before turning in for the night will renew and relax you so you can settle in for a restful sleep.
A little recharge at the end of the day is something we could all use, because tomorrow will be another busy day filled with work obligations and family activities. So don’t burn your candle at both ends, try burning it only at one end and see if you feel more renewed. I’m betting that you will.
