Easy Christmas Decor Ideas

Instagram and Pinterest are filled with thousands of images of the most beautiful Christmas holiday decor. Lifestyle bloggers have been posting tips and ideas for Christmas decor for weeks and weeks.

Seeing all the Christmas decor ideas certainly gets me in the holiday mood, but it also makes me feel stressed. There is so much to do and so little time to get it all done. Can you relate? As we move into the final stretch before Christmas I want to share some easy holiday decor ideas that you still have time to do. Let’s bring the excitement back and reduce the stress.

Today I want to share some simple Christmas decor ideas with you that you can easily do. Things you may already be doing in preparation for the holidays that will give your home a festive Christmas feeling with out having to spend additional hours and hours decorating your house.

Sound appealing?

Use the extra time you won’t be spending decorating with your family instead, and create memories that will last you a lifetime. Go to the ballet, spend a day playing in the snow and go skiing or sledding, maybe take an evening drive around the neighborhood to enjoy the Christmas lights? Bake cookies with your kids or grandkids and just enjoy the season.

Think about some of the holiday activities you may have missed out on in years past and make doing something fun a priority this year. Give yourself permission to not use every single Christmas decoration you have stored away.

Make a list of the top 5 things you would like to experience this coming holiday season. Maybe it’s getting all dressed up and go see the Nutcracker ballet or hosting a holiday party and spending more time with family and friends.

I have decided that for me, the insanity to do more and more and more each year has to stop!

I am not anti Christmas by any stretch! I just want to get back to what the Christmas season is supposed to be all about and leave enough time this year to focus on what’s most important, my family.

This year decide to focus on just one really special Christmas decor item; spend the time to make it really beautiful, then add in small Christmas touches around the rest of the house and call it done.

A simple Christmas themed vignette in the kitchen is all you need to spread the holiday cheer.

For me Christmas is all about the tree, it just doesn’t feel like Christmas without it. So I will focus my energy on putting up the tree. What about you? Is it all about the mantle and the stockings? Maybe it’s the lights on the outside of the house? Is your house the one that everyone slows down to admire when they drive by? Focus on the one thing that really makes it feel like Christmas for you and keep the rest simple.

So how do you easily decorate for Christmas with out all the stress? It’s all about simplifying and adding in small Christmas touches with out doing a lot of extra work.

Adding a bit of greenery, berries and a festive bow in red instantly creates a fun festive touch.

The first thing you will want to consider is the color scheme you want to use. I lean toward a more traditional look with bright pops of red in my decor for the holidays. Add in a few natural elements and call it a holiday.

Red is the most traditional color and says Christmas like no other color.

One of the simplest ways to add holiday cheer is to add it through your textiles. If you have overnight guests coming to stay, you already have to put out clean towels and fresh bedding. It’s just as easy to add Christmas themed bedding to the bed as it is to add your regular bedding.

Mixing plaids adds interest to a bed.

The easiest way to add Christmas to your bedding is with a plaid duvet set or with pops of red in the sheets. I’m mad about plaid! If you stick to neutral bedding adding a Christmas vibe is as easy as adding a plaid throw to the foot of the bed and a holiday themed throw pillow for an instant touch of Christmas cheer.

Plaids, especially red plaids are a timeless look that will never go out of style and it’s something you can easily pull out of the linen closet and use year after year.

Plaid is a classic easy way to add Christmas to a bedroom.

If you are unsure of how to easily create a designer looking bed you can learn how easy it is to do here. Once you have the basic formula down, it takes hardly any time to make your bed look like the designer one’s you see online or in home decor magazines.

In the bathrooms, add fresh towels in your holiday color scheme. Change out the tired everyday shower curtain with a holiday themed one. Add a candle to the vanity and you are all set. Changing out just these few simple things will add instant Christmas cheer and shouldn’t take you more than a few minutes to do, if it even takes you that long.

Adding just small pops of your color scheme in each room of your house will pull everything together and give it a cohesive pulled together festive holiday look with a minimum of effort.

In the living room and family room add throw pillows and snuggly throws on the sofa. Add a few candles in your color scheme for some instant holiday ambiance.

My favorite spot to curl up with a glass of wine and a book.

Your home will feel like Christmas with just the addition of holiday themed textiles and candles. Turn the lights on the tree and you could easily call it done. When did more and more and more become the expectation? A simpler, pared down approach has an elegance all it’s own.

I love creating a cozy feel with my holiday decor.
