Big Mac Tacos

Can you taco a Big Mac? Why yes, yes you certainly can, and let me tell you, it’s DELICIOUS! Burgers or tacos for dinner, the dilemma is real and plays out in homes all across America many a night! What if I told you, you could have both? All the flavors of your favorite burger but in the form of a taco. The men in my life love a good juicy burger, as do I, but I have to admit my favorite food in the world has to be tacos! As much as I love a juicy, beefy burger, tacos hold a special place in my heart. So when I had the idea to create a taco with all the flavors of my favorite fast food burger, this delicious creation was born. It incorporates all the ingredients of the iconic Big Mac burger, but in the form of a taco. Not to brag or anything, but it’s an utterly brilliant idea, if I do say so myself. Not only is it delicious, it’s so very easy to make as well! That means you can have a homemade meal on the table that everyone will scarf down, in no time flat! Healthier than a fast food meal and easy to make. Perfect for a busy weeknight!

Confession, I was craving a Big Mac burger and I had all the ingredients I needed except for the buns. I even had everything I needed to make the Copycat Special Big Mac Sauce that tastes exactly like the sauce on the burgers from Micky D’s, but the weather wasn’t cooperating. It was a frightful, miserable, rainy, windy evening and even the thought of driving to the store or hitting the drive thru to satisfy my Big Mac attack was not something I wanted to do. It was a stay at home in my jammies and slippers kinda night and I was in no mood to venture out into the stormy weather. I did however have flour tortillas in the fridge and decided to try something a little different. I used this very same technique when I made these amazingly tasty Ground Beef Gyros for dinner a few nights ago but instead of using Naan bread I used flour tortillas. Completely different flavor profiles, but equally delicious. What are you in the mood for?

These Ground Beef Gyros are so flipping good!

We all remember the jingle, right? 🎼 Two all beef patties, 🎶 special sauce, 🎵 lettuce, 🎶 cheese, 🎵 pickles, 🎶 onions, 🎵 on a sesame seed bun. There’s your recipe! Let’s start with the special sauce. The special sauce is what gives this meal its iconic flavor that we all love and makes a Big Mac, well, a Big Mac, right?

How to Make Big Mac Tacos

Prepare the Special Sauce:

Place mayonnaise, French dressing, sweet pickle relish, minced onions, white vinegar, sugar and salt in a mixing bowl and stir to combine. Set aside.

Prepare remaining ingredients:

Mince onion, slice pickles and shred lettuce. Set aside.

Cook the Tacos:

Divide ground beef into four equal sized portions.

Press the ground beef onto a flour tortilla in a thin layer, pressing it out to the edges of the tortilla. The beef will shrink as you cook it so press it out all the way to the edges of the tortillas.

Season beef generously with salt and pepper.

Heat a non-stick skillet on the stove over medium heat. Add butter, lard, or oil to the pan, and swirl to coat the bottom of the pan. I tried the first one in one of my cast iron skillets, but the beef wanted to stick to the pan. I had much better luck using a non-stick ceramic skillet to cook the beef.

Place a tortilla, beef side down in the skillet

Cook for 2-3 minutes until beef is browned, pressing down on the tortilla with a spatula as the beef cooks to ensure the beef sticks to the tortilla and prevent it from shrinking as much as it cooks.

Once the beef patty is browned, flip the tortilla over. It will only take about 2-3 minutes since the beef is spread very thin.

Top the beef with two slices of American cheese and place a lid over the top. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, just to crisp the flour tortilla, make sure the beef is cooked through and the cheese is melty. Remove from heat with a spatula.

Assemble the Tacos:

Top with some special sauce, minced onion, sliced pickles, and shredded lettuce.

Fold tortilla in half to serve and DEVOUR!

Serve with additional sauce on the side for the saucy lovers in the family. That’s it! All that’s left do to is to dig in! Open wide for that first bite.

Round out the meal with a side of The Crispiest Air Fried Tater Tots. Pop them in your air fryer while you cook up your tacos and you’ll have the perfect easy to make side to serve alongside those Big Mac Tacos.

It only takes a few quick minutes to whip up a batch of the Chili’s Copycat Creamy Buttermilk Ranch Dressing to dip those crispy on the outside, hot and steamy on the inside Tater Tots you just pulled out of your air fryer. This Ranch dressing is a thousand times better than anything you can buy in a bottle, plus there’s no artificial flavors, or chemical additives in it either. Just creamy, good flavor for dipping!

Hot dang, these Big Mac Tacos are might tasty! They were quick and easy to get on the table and tasted exactly like a Big Mac burger, just like what you get at Micky D’s. I encourage you to give these tacos a try. Oh so easy to make and I know you won’t get any complaints about dinner when you serve them up. They’re FANTASTIC! My boy’s wolfed them down.
