How To Make Mom A Christmas Survival Stocking

It’s that time of the year again! It just doesn’t seem like there’s ever enough hours in the day. How will we ever get everything on our to-do list done? The holiday shopping, the school Christmas plays, the cookie baking, the holiday decorating, the holiday parties, wrapping the gifts, planning and cooking the holiday meal. It’s a lot! Not only is it most wonderful time of the year, but let’s be honest…it can also be the most stressful time of the year for us mom’s. Can I get an AMEN? So when my girlfriends came up with this idea for a Mom’s Christmas Survival Stocking, we dropped everything to make them for all our favorite stressed out holiday moms!

Everyone could use beautiful crafting buddies like these ladies!

We turned these plain, boring, totally unremarkable, mini stockings from the Dollar Tree into these fun “Survival” stockings in just one fun, laughter filled afternoon.

SUPPLIES:

  • Small Christmas stockings
  • Holiday themed beaded necklaces
  • Jingle bells
  • Assorted Christmas themed embellishments
  • Ribbon
  • Lace
  • Needle and thread
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hot glue sticks
  • Mini bottles of Fireball or other libation of choice

This is a very easy, really affordable, and totally adorable holiday craft project that can be completed in an afternoon. Most of the supplies we used were purchased at the Dollar Tree, along with leftover bits of ribbon and lace from previous craft projects. The embellishments can be customized any way you like.

Start by attaching the beaded necklaces to the stockings. We used a needle and thread to secure the beaded necklaces to the stockings. You could also just hot glue them in place, but we wanted to make sure the stocking wouldn’t fall off. It just takes a few stitches and a few minutes to do this.

Attach assorted embellishments to each stocking with a hot glue gun.

Finally it’s time to add the “survival” part of the stocking, a small bottle of mom’s favorite libation.

Just slip one into each stocking.

The perfect little holiday helper when the line at the grocery store stretches out for what looks like miles, when the kids Christmas play goes on endlessly, when your in-laws are getting on your very last nerve, when the kids make you want to pull your hair out, or when you’re exhausted after a long stress filled day and just need to unwind. Mom’s Christmas Survival Stockings to the rescue.

Here are just a few other mini survival stocking stuffer ideas for just about everyone on your Christmas list:
