Is This Really The World’s Best Steak Marinade?

I do a lot of research online, not only looking for tasty recipes to try, but for inspiration as well. When I came across this recipe posted by Kookie on Allrecipes.com claiming it was the world’s best steak marinade, it piqued my interest and I decided to give it a try to see if the claim was actually true. It has over 3300 five star ratings so it should be pretty darn good. But world’s best? That’s a pretty tall order if you ask me.

I had a couple sirloin steaks in the fridge that I wanted to cook up so I decided to use them with this marinade. Let’s face it, with the price of beef these days, it’s going to be a while before we throw rib eyes on the grill again. Rib eye steaks are juicy and delicious on their own, they don’t really need a marinade to enhance their flavor. A little salt and pepper and they are good to go!

I typically use sirloin in stir fry’s or in my personal all time favorite Chinese meal, Crispy Shredded Beef.

Sirloin is also the perfect cut of beef and delicious when cooked up as these tasty Steak Bites.

But for steaks on the grill, rib eye’s are the ticket. Sirloin steaks however, in my humble opinion, need a little help to enhance their flavor, especially if you are going to toss them on the grill and they are playing the star role for dinner.

Let’s see if this marinade stands up to Kookie’s claim of being the World’s best Marinade, shall we?

It’s easy enough to toss it together. I love that it uses common ingredients. If you have a well stocked panty and fridge you will most likely have all the ingredients hand. No extra trip to the market to purchase a little used, expensive ingredient. Gotta love that. So far, no complaints from me.

I left the lemon and garlic out of the picture…LOL.

In a small bowl combine, soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, dried basil, parsley flakes, pepper, hot sauce and minced garlic.

Place steaks in a 1 gallon plastic ziplock bag and add marinade.

Seal bag and refrigerate for up to 8 hours or as long as overnight. I marinated my steaks overnight.

Grill steaks to your desired doneness. Steaks can be grilled on the barbecue or pan fried on the stove in a large cast iron skillet. Both cooking methods will produce excellent results. For the best tasting and juicy steaks cook them to medium rare or medium doneness.

The verdict? We loved this marinade! It had a savory tanginess that really enhanced the flavor of the sirloin steaks. Is it the world’s best marinade? We gave it a solid 8 out of 10! Will I be using it again in the future? You bet I will!!!

It uses ingredients I almost always have on hand and it took an inexpensive cut of beef and made it taste amazing! A BIG thank you to Kookie for sharing this recipe! I can definitely recommend this marinade!
