Best Buttery-Butter Biscuits

No kneading dough, just stir together ingredients and bake in a pan of melted butter for the easiest, butteriest biscuits you will ever bake up in your oven.

Equipment

  • 10 inch cast iron pan

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup butter
  • cups flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 4 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • cups buttermilk
  • ¼ cup milk

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 450°F.
  • Cut butter into pats and place them in a 10 inch cast iron pan.
  • Place the pan in the oven for a few mnutes until the butter is completely melted.
  • While butter is melting in the oven, stir together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a large bowl.
  • Add buttermilk to the dry ingredients, and stir to combine.
  • Remove cast iron pan from the oven.
  • Use a rubber spatula to spread the batter into the cast iron pan smoothing it out over the melted butter. Batter will be very sticky.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until biscuit dough turns a deep golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and cool for 10 minutes to allow biscuits to absorb all the butter in the bottom of the cast iron pan.
  • Cut into wedges to serve.
