Cheddar Jalapeño Stuffed Burger

A juicy Lucy cheddar jalapeño stuffed burger grilled to perfection; summer doesn't get much better than this.

Ingredients
  

  • hamburger buns or sliced sourdough bread
  • lettuce
  • tomato, sliced
  • mustard & ketchup

For the filling:

  • 4 tbsp cream cheese, softened
  • 3 oz cheddar cheese, finely shredded
  • 1 Jalapeño pepper, seeded & diced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

For the patties:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • cup yellow onion, finely minced
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl combine, cream cheese, grated cheddar cheese, diced jalapeño and garlic powder.
  • Use your hands to roll filling into a ball and flatten into 3 equal sized patties.
  • In a mixing bowl, use your hands to combine ground beef, minced onion, salt and pepper.
  • Separate meat into 6 equal sized portions.
  • Flatten out each piece of beef into thin patties slightly larger in diameter than the cheese filling patties.
  • Place a cheese filling patty in the center of a beef patty, and top with another beef patty.
  • Use your fingers to pinch together the edges to enclose cheese filling and form evenly shaped burger patties.
  • Baste patties with olive oil.
  • Preheat barbecue grill.
  • Grill patties for 6-7 minutes on each side over medium high heat until cooked through.
  • Top patties with your favorite burger toppings to serve.
