Grandma Marie's Lemonade

This lemonade is totally refreshing, tart, but not too tart, sweet, but not to sweet. It's the perfect libation on a hot summer day!

Ingredients
  

  • cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups lemon juice
  • 7 cups cold water
  • lemon slices, for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan, combine the sugar with 1 cup water. Bring mixture to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved. 
  • Remove from heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature, about an hour.
  • Juice enough lemons to make 2 cups of lemon juice.  
  • Pour the lemon juice through a strainer to remove seeds and excess pulp.
  • In a large pitcher, combine strained lemon juice, cooled simple syrup and 7 cups cold water.  Stir to combine.  
  • Refrigerate until chilled.
  • Serve chilled over ice.
  • Garnish with lemon slices if desired.
