Creamy Egg Omelete

If you told me I could cook up one of the creamiest omelets I’ve ever eaten in the microwave, I would have told you that you had a few loose screws. I personally hate cooking anything in the microwave! I’ve tired cooking eggs in the microwave in the past and I must admit, I’ve had less than stellar results. They turned out rather dry with an unpleasant rubbery texture, not good. Honestly? About the only thing I use the microwave for is to reheat leftovers, soften butter, or warm up water. But there’s been a bunch of video’s on social media lately where folks are cooking up some of the fluffiest, creamy looking omelets in the microwave, and I love me a good omelet, so I finally decided to give it a try, but I was doubtful.

Fluffy and ultra creamy…so delicious!

How To Make The Creamiest Omelette:

The secret to making the creamiest eggs in the microwave is the addition of mayonnaise. Yes, I know, mayonnaise? Trust me on this, adding it to the beaten egg produces one of the fluffiest, creamiest eggs you will ever eat and you don’t taste the mayonnaise at all. No rubbery dry eggs…honest! I was skeptical too, but after I tried it I was hooked!

First I decided to try making my personal favorite, scrambled eggs on the stovetop in a skillet. I added 2 eggs and a generous spoonful of mayonnaise, about 2 tablespoons, to a mixing bowl and beat everything together until I had a smooth egg batter.

I melted about a tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat.

I added the egg batter and cooked it until soft and fluffy.

They turned out PHENOMENAL! Fluffy and super creamy, all the things really well made scrambled eggs should be! The addition of the mayonnaise actually makes a big difference in the texture and creaminess.

Then came the real test. Would I get the same creamy results? I tried making an omelet in the microwave to see if it would be as good as the more traditional stovetop method. I placed a pat of butter in a 4 ounce ramekin and popped it in the microwave for 20 seconds to melt the butter. I swirled the melted butter around the dish to coat it.

I combined 1 egg with about a tablespoon of mayonnaise and beat it together into a creamy egg batter.

I poured the batter into the buttered ramekin and cooked it on high for 45 seconds.

To my utter astonishment, it cooked to perfection!

Light, fluffy and creamy. Every bite was delicious!

Season with salt and pepper to serve and be ready to cook up omelet after omelet with this easy microwave method. It’s easy enough even your kids can do it. It’s a quick and easy way to cook up an egg, and there’s minimal dishes to clean up, so it’s the perfect breakfast for a busy week day. Add a slice of toast and a glass of milk and you have a nutritious breakfast that will keep you satisfied until lunch time rolls around.
