Wash your car.
Is it just my imagination or does my car drive faster when it’s clean? No matter what model car you drive it just feels good when your car is clean and shiny!
The weather here in northern California has been gorgeous! If you are lucky enough to be enjoying some gorgeous spring weather and sunshine and on a budget, I’m challenging you to spend an hour outside cleaning you car.
First thing is to clear out all the clutter. Remove all the trash that somehow seems to accumulate in the back, and under the seats. Toss the empty water bottles, food wrappers, drink cups. Clear out the sweaters, jackets, extra shoes, get them all out of the car.
Don’t forget to clear out the trunk. Do you use it for storage? Not a good idea! The only thing I carry around in my trunk are an emergency kit and reusable grocery bags. If you live in an area that gets a lot of snow and harsh weather, or if you have small children (they need a lot of stuff) you may need to carry more supplies but try to limit what you have in your trunk to the bare essentials. Clear that trunk out!
All that extra unnecessary stuff you are carrying around in your car adds up and the extra weight will reduce your gas mileage. Here in California gas prices have been creeping up again towards the $4.00 mark, ouch! So clearing out all the extra stuff will help your bottom line.
Next wash the outside with some sudsy water and be sure to dry it off so you don’t end up with water spots. This is what I consider a basic car wash and something that you can knock out in less than an hour. Pop in your earbuds, listen to some music or your favorite podcast and get a dose of vitamin D while you do this.
If you really want to get your ride looking good you can add vacuuming out the interior and cleaning the windows on the inside. I use this miracle window cleaner for the windows in my house but it works just as great on my car windows.
So are you going to get out there and wash your car today? The days are getting longer again and you can knock this out in the driveway after work if you don’ have the time on the weekend. Getting behind the wheel of a clean car will definitely elevate your everyday all week long!
