DIY Fall Inspired Candle Holder

Transitioning your decor from summer to early fall doesn’t have to be hard. With an investment of only a few minutes of time and a few inexpensive supplies you can easily create this autumn inspired candle holder.

Keeping just a few simple rules in mind will make it easy to create a beautiful fall inspired vignette.

  • The rule of three
  • Keep a tight color pallet
  • Vary the height of items

The rule of three.

Using just three items is all you really need to create a vignette. Using an odd number of items is just more visually pleasing to the eye. But don’t overdo it, remember to keep it simple. There is an easy elegance to keeping things simple.

Keep a tight color pallet.

There is nothing wrong with using a seasonal pop of color but too many different colors will look chaotic and will not produce a cohesive look. Strive for neutrals with one pop of color for a punch of drama.

Vary the height of items.

Having each item in a vignette all the same height creates a flat, uninspiring vignette. Varying the heights of each of the items you use will create much more visual interest than having all the items on the same plane. Use books, coasters, blocks of wood, anything that you can use underneath items to give them a bit of height.

The fun part in creating a vignette is choosing the items to reflect the seasons. When summer has not loosened it’s grip yet but the evenings hold a bit of a fall chill it’s time to start transitioning your decor from summer to the first phase of fall.

Not sure what the three phases of fall are? Each phase of fall is beautiful and unique in it’s own special way. You can learn all about the three phases of fall here.

This DIY project is the perfect way to add a bit of the early fall season into your home. Add it to a vignette in your home for an instant touch of early autumn.

The supplies you will need for this easy project:

  • Glass cylinder
  • Coffee beans
  • Pillar candle
  • Burlap ribbon
  • Acorns
  • Jute twine
  • Hot glue gun & glue sticks
  • Scissors

Cut a length of the burlap ribbon so that it easily fits around the glass cylinder. Use a dab of hot glue to hold it in place, at about 2/3 of the way up the cylinder.

Tie twine around the ribbon and tie in a bow.

Glue acorns to the ends of varying lengths of jute twine.

Attach strands of jute twine with attached acorns to the jute twine bow. Use a small dab of glue to hold everything in place.

Add coffee beans to the cylinder, then top with a pillar candle.

An easy craft project that will add a touch of fall to any vignette.

That’s it! A super easy DIY project that anyone can tackle!
