I’ve been busy working on setting up a craft room and I can hardly wait to share how it turned out! I have a few projects to finish up before the big reveal though. But I couldn’t wait to share this inexpensive and easy to make woven jute wreath DIY with you. It adds the perfect finishing touch to my craft room!
Not only is it one of the least expensive wreaths I have ever made (under $10), the natural fiber rope gives it a such lovely texture that really makes it a charming addition to any decor style.
Supplies:
- Wire wreath form
- Jute rope
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Hot glue sticks
- Jute twine
- Assorted paint brushes or accents of your choice such as silk flowers, ribbon or assorted figurines.
I ended up embellishing my woven wreath with paint inspired accents. An inexpensive sponge brush and a couple chip brushes tied with a length of jute twine seemed like the perfect simple accent for the door to my craft room.
Start by heating up your glue gun. Glue gun craft projects are my favorite projects!
Secure the end of the rope to the wire wreath with a generous dab of hot glue.
Begin weaving rope under and over each ring of the wreath, alternating as you work your way around the wreath. Place a dab of glue every inch or so, onto the wire ring(s) of the wreath to keep the rope securely in place.
Press rope together as you wrap it around the rings of the wreath to hide the wire wreath underneath the rope.
Continue weaving the rope under and over the rings of the wreath in an alternating pattern, until the wire wreath form is completely covered with the rope.
Once you have completely covered the wire frame with the rope, secure the end of the rope with a generous dab of glue on the backside of the wreath. Use scissors to trim off any excess length of rope.
This textural wreath makes a great neutral base for a wide variety of embellishments. Create a cluster with the embellishments you decide to use. Attach it to the wreath with a small dab of hot glue. When you tire of the look, it’s easy to remove it from the wreath and replace it with something else.
Embellishment Ideas:
- Kitchen Theme: silverware, wooden spoons, spatulas, whisk, cloth napkins.
- Garden Theme: small clay flower pots, silk flowers, greenery, seed packets, gardening gloves, small watering can.
- Bird Theme: bird figurines, bird houses.
- Succulent Theme: artificial succulents, moss, assorted greenery
- Coffee Theme: coffee mugs, teaspoon, coffee filters, small coffee press.
- Seasonal Themes: spring, summer, winer, fall
- Holiday Themes: Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Easter
You are only limited by your imagination! Once you embellish your wreath, all that’s left to do is to hang your wreath and enjoy it!
I love how this wreath turned out! Not only was it easy to make but it’s one of the most affordable craft projects I have ever made. I purchased the wire wreath frame and rope from the Dollar Tree and I raided the paint tool box out in the garage for the paint brushes that I used as the embellishments. Give this project a try, it’s very easy to do and so affordable, making it a project anyone can do!
