I LOVE THESE BEANS! Not only are they absolutely delicious but they are oh so very easy to make. It takes about 15 minutes to cook them up and then you just pop them in the oven and let the oven work its magic. The oven does all the hard work for you and transforms them into a rich, thick savory, sweet side that you won’t be able to stop eating! The bacon and barbecue sauce add a rich smoky flavor that’s absolutely irresistible and the brown sugar adds a touch of sweetness that caramelizes as it bakes, making it nearly impossible to stop eating these beans. You will go back for seconds, guaranteed! If you bring this to a potluck the pan will come home so clean you won’t even have to wash it…LOL!

While the oven is preheating, cook the bacon pieces in a cast iron skillet until browned and crispy.
Remove the cooked bacon from the skillet using a slotted spoon and place it on a paper towel lined plate to drain.
Add the diced onion and red bell pepper to the bacon fat in the skillet. Cook over medium heat until onions are translucent and peppers are soft, about 5 minutes. Turn off heat.
Add the can of beans, bbq sauce, brown sugar, mustard, pepper and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet.
Stir to combine all the ingredients.
Top beans with cooked reserved bacon.
Place skillet in preheated oven and bake uncovered for 1-1½ hours until nicely thickened.
Serve piping hot. These savory and slightly sweet skillet baked beans are the perfect side for all your 4th of July grilling get togethers. Delicious served with burgers, hot dogs, ribs, barbecued chicken, and steaks. Goes great with pretty much anything you pull off the grill. The recipe is easily doubled if you need to feed a crowd. This is my go to side when I want something that’s easy to make and a real crowd pleaser. You really can’t go wrong with this delicious side!
