Making fresh guacamole from scratch is super easy and tastes 1000 times better than any of the packaged stuff you will find on the supermarket shelves! Plus you know exactly what’s in it, which makes it so much healthier! No unpronounceable preservatives; just wholesome, healthy ingredients that taste delicious.
The addition of a couple tablespoons of sour cream to the mixture gives this Guac an unexpected tangy richness that will have you gobbling this up, chipful after luscious chipful!
TIP: Chill prepared guacamole in the fridge for a couple of hours to allow the flavors to intensify and come together.
- 2-3 avocados, diced
- 1-2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 Roma tomatoes seeded and diced
- 1/2 cup diced red onion
- 1/2 bunch cilantro, chopped
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
- 1-2 jalapeno, seeds removed and finely diced
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cumin, optional
Mash avocados with a fork in a mixing bowl to the consistency you prefer.
TIP: Using a pastry cutter makes quick work of mashing your avocados.
Add lime juice and salt and mix well with fork.
Stir in the remaining ingredients and combine well.
Scrape mixture into a pretty serving dish and serve with tortilla chips.
TIP: To help keep guacamole fresh, place the pit of an avocado into the prepared guacamole. Cover guacamole with plastic wrap, making sure to press the plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to keep as much air as possible away from the surface. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
