Not only is it easy to do, but you will be able to enjoy a fresh pineapple fruit salad, and now you have this delicious Pineapple Tea to make with all those scraps.

Drinking pineapple teaĀ is an excellent way to eliminate excess water in your body and it’s been shown to help with weight loss by improving your metabolism. Pineapple tea has been shown to boost the immune system, reduce inflammation, slow premature aging, and lower your risk of developing chronic diseases.

Fresh pineapples are packed with good for you stuff!

Pineapples contain the active ingredient Bromelain which has been shown to reduce inflammation and is often prescribed to those suffering from arthritis. It’s packed with Vitamin C and various other antioxidants. Pineapples are a pretty darn amazing fruit and all these benefits can be found in the skin of the pineapple too! Not only will you reap all the health benefits, but pineapple tea is low in calories compared to drinking pineapple juice.

To make pineapple tea, place pineapple skin scraps, and the core in a large sauce pan.

Add enough water to the pan to completely cover the pineapple scraps.

Cover and bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes. Remove pan from heat and allow the tea to come to room temperature.

Once the tea comes to room temperature, strain the tea.

Use a coffee filter or paper towel lined sieve to strain out unwanted bits.

Cover tea and refrigerate.

Serve tea chilled over ice for a refreshing, healthy libation. We find the tea is naturally sweet and doesn’t need any added sweetener. If you prefer your tea on the sweeter side, add a touch of honey.

This pitcher of tea disappeared in only two days. I was lucky enough to enjoy a glass but my teenager discovered it and it vanished! When I went back for another glass, all that was left was an empty pitcher in the fridge. Give this recipe a try, I think you will love it! We sure do!!! Healthy, naturally sweet, low in calories, refreshing, and delicious. This is a beverage you can feel good about drinking.
