How To Make Chick-Fil-A’s Famous Chicken Salad

Are you a Chick-Fil-A fan or a Popeyes fan? Do you remember the spicy chicken sandwich wars that happened a few years back? It got so insane for a while that there were reports of chicken breast shortages around the country. Locations at both chains were running out of spicy chicken sandwiches just hours after they opened with insanely long lines of cars sitting in their drive thru’s. I can still remember everyone in the office casting votes for their favorite. There were definitely two camps on who made the best spicy chicken sandwich. I never did get the chance to try a Popeye’s spicy chicken sandwich, I didn’t have the fortitude needed to wait in those long lines. I must confess, I’m a Chick-Fil-A fan. My go to order and favorite has always been their Chicken Deluxe Sandwich, with a side of waffle fries and an icy cold glass of their refreshingly tart lemonade. Yum!

I didn’t have any ripe large tomatoes in my garden so I added some chopped cherry tomatoes to my sandwich.

When I came across this recipe online for their famous Chicken salad I decided to give it a try. I used to see it on the menu all the time; but it’s been retired and no longer served in their restaurants. The Chicken Deluxe sandwich always won out, so I never got a chance to try their chicken salad sandwich when it was available. Chick-Fil-A is renowned for their chicken sandwiches so I knew this was going to be mighty tasty and I had all the ingredients I needed on hand. Making it at home means you can enjoy this anytime you want and when you’re at Chick-Fil-A you can enjoy your personal favorite Chicken sandwich. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Start by placing shredded or diced cooked chicken breast meat in a large mixing bowl.

The original Chick-Fil-A recipe calls for placing all the ingredients in the bowl of a food processor and processing the mixture for 10-15 seconds. I prefer a chunkier chicken salad. If you’re like me and prefer more texture with larger bites of chicken and crunchy celery, skip the food processor and just stir all the ingredients together by hand instead of processing it in a food processor.

Add mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, diced celery, and chopped hard boiled eggs to the bowl.

Stir to combine. Add additional mayonnaise, a tablespoon at a time if mixture seems dry.

Make your chicken salad as creamy as you like it.

Taste and season with salt and pepper.

Serve on whole grain sliced bread with lettuce, sprouts and tomatoes. It’s also delicious on sour dough bread.

Utterly scrumptious served with a side of potato chips. This chicken salad is absolutely amazing! Just a few basic, simple ingredients creates an utterly delicious meal. It takes just a few minutes to whip up and making it at home means you know exactly what’s in it. I encourage you to give this recipe a try, you will love it!

Have you ever thought of growing sprouts at home? I grow them all the time. Not only do they add a lovely crunch and lovely flavor to salads and sandwiches, they’re packed with loads of good for you nutrients. Find out how to Easily Grow Sprouts in a Mason Jar at home so you can enjoy them anytime. My favorite are broccoli sprouts; they have a pleasant mild flavor and rank very high in nutrition. Get creative and try growing radish sprouts or alfalfa sprouts to see which you like the best. Take a few minutes and do a little research online on sprouts. You will be surprised at just how many nutrients are packed into these tiny little guys. I bet you’ll be like me and look for all kinds of ways to add them to everything you can. I much prefer getting my vitamins from fresh foods than from a pill. What about you?
