How To Make Juicy, Flavorful, Garlic-Cilantro Marinated Grilled Steaks

I live with meat and potato loving men so when steaks go on sale I know I’m going to have some very happy guys at the table for dinner! To be honest my favorite cut is a ribeye. All that’s needed is a little salt, pepper and garlic powder for the best flavor. Toss them on the grill and you’re guaranteed a juicy, tasty steak on your plate. A New York steak is a great cut of meat but because there is less marbling it can easily be overcooked and turn out rather dry. Marinating will help prevent pulling a dry as sawdust steak off the grill. The marinade will not only tenderize a cut of beef but it will infuse it with loads of flavor and keep it nice and juicy on the grill as it cooks.

Combine chopped cilantro, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and sugar in a bowl. Stir to combine.

Add lemon juice, olive oil, and water.

Stir to combine.

Prepare steaks. Wash them under cold running water and pat them dry with a paper towel.

Bone-in steaks will produce the best flavor.

TIP: You can easily halve the marinade if you aren’t cooking up a lot of steaks.

Place steaks in a large ziplock bag and add marinade. Reserve about a ½ cup to use for basting the steaks when they are grilled.

Seal bag, squeezing out excess air.

Place in the refrigerator and allow steaks to marinate overnight. Turn bag once or twice during marinating time to ensure steaks are completely coated with the marinade.

Remove steaks from bag and discard marinade in the bag.

Grill steaks on a barbecue grill to desired doneness, basting with reserved marinade. Cook time will vary depending on the thickness of the steaks.

Remove from heat when steaks reach an internal temperature of 130℉, for medium doneness.

Allow steaks to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow juices to redistribute.

Not only does the marinade add loads of flavor but it produces a tender and juicy steak that’s melt in your mouth delicious! If you take a few minutes to prepare this marinade and get those steaks in the fridge you are guaranteed a delectable steak dinner the following evening. Serve with a loaded baked potato and a crips green salad to round out this easy to make delicious meal.
