How To Make The TikTok Internet Sensation; Smoked Queso Dip In A Slow Cooker

How can I not try a recipe that’s all over the internet with just about everyone raving about it? Everyone, and I mean everyone that’s tried it gives it five+++ stars! Is it healthy, nope. Is it absolutely delicious, yep! Should you eat this on a regular basis? Probably not. If you want to bring something delicious to a pot luck that will feed a crowd, and not worry about schlepping home loads of leftovers, this is the perfect recipe! It really is scrape the bowl clean, to get every last bit, delicious!

It’s cheesy, meaty, creamy, and packed with bold flavors! The original version is made in a tin foil pan and cooked directly on the barbecue grill. But when you are entertaining a large group it’s nice to make this queso in a slow cooker so you can use the grill for cooking up all those burgers, steaks or hot dogs. Another benefit of making this in a slow cooker is that it will stay all cheesy, and gooey warm for hours, if it lasts that long. Let’s face it, queso is best served piping hot.

This recipe is ridiculously easy to make. Pretty much all you have to do is combine all the ingredients in a slow cooker. Give it a good stir and heat it up.

Plus the sausage which is not pictured.

Don’t let the addition of the can of cream of mushroom soup turn you off. It provides more creaminess to the queso, and I promise, you will not taste it! So don’t leave it out!

The hardest part is cooking the sausage. Place breakfast sausage in a large skillet. Cook sausage over medium heat, breaking it up into small crumbles with a spatula as it cooks. Drain off any excess grease.

Cut the Velveeta and cream cheese into 1 inch chunks.

Cutting the Velveeta and cream cheese into chunks helps it melt faster.

Place the cooked sausage, cubed Velveeta, cream cheese chunks, cream of mushroom soup, diced onion, shredded Jack cheese, chopped Jalapeños, Rotel tomatoes, and barbecue seasoning in a slow cooker.

I used this barbecue seasoning. I found it at a gourmet food shop a while back, and I couldn’t resist picking it up. The name just makes me chuckle every time I pull it out of the pantry. LOL. Use your favorite barbecue seasoning or what ever you have on hand for the queso. You could also use an envelope of taco seasoning mix if you don’t have barbecue seasoning on hand.

Once you have everything in the slow cooker, give it a good stir.

I know, I know, it doesn’t look like much now, but just you wait.

Cover and cook on high for an hour. Once the ingredients start to simmer, give it another stir to combine everything. Cover and continue to heat on low until everything is melted together, another 1-2 hours.

It took about two and a half hours in the slow cooker for everything to melt together and get bubbly hot.

Once the queso is melty and bubbly hot, serve with tortilla chips or corn chips for scooping up all the cheesy goodness.

So is this queso recipe as good as everyone raves about? I can honestly, and wholeheartedly say…YES! Super easy to make, feeds a hungry crowd, and it’s lip smackingly delicious! Be sure to print out the recipe to take along, so you can give it everyone that wants the recipe! It will be the crowd favorite. Give this one a try, it won’t disappoint! Scouts honor!!!
