Pizza night rolls around more and more often ever since I finally perfected my homemade pizza crust. Honestly when did pizza get so darn expensive? Holy smokes, a decent pizza these days can set you back almost $40! Once I finally perfected making the Best Artisan Pizza Crust with it’s crisp burnt edges and great chew with a depth of flavor you typically only get from a pizzeria made pizza, it was game on! Why spend a small fortune for pizza when you can make it at home for a fraction of the cost. This pepperoni garlic pizza is a delicious pizza made with garlic butter instead of the typical red tomato sauce and it’s delicious!

How To Make Pepperoni Garlic Pizza:
Place a pizza steel or baking stone in the oven on the middle rack. Preheat oven to 475℉. Allow oven to preheat for 45 minutes. You want that oven screaming hot when the pizza goes in.
While the oven is preheating, remove pizza dough from the refrigerator. I make my own Artisan Pizza Dough and it’s FANTASTIC! You can get equally good results with this pizza cooking method using a refrigerated pizza dough. Trader Joe’s has a great fresh pizza dough that you can get in the refrigerated section of the store. But if you want bragging rights, making your own is actually easy and fun to do.

Place ball of dough onto perforated pizza pan and flatten it out.
TIP: Using a perforated pizza pan eliminates the stress of transferring the raw pizza from a pizza peel onto a hot pizza steel. If the dough sticks to the peel, you can end up with a hot mess in your oven. Just ask me how I know…LOL! The beauty of using a perforated pizza pan, is that once the pizza crust is par baked on a perforated pizza pan it’s oh so easy to slide the pizza onto the hot pizza steel in the oven. No fuss, no muss!
Grab the edges of the dough and gently stretch and form the dough into a 12-14 inch circle leaving the outer edge of the dough a little thicker than the center.

Next make the garlic butter. In a small bowl combine the softened butter with, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, pepper and paprika.

Brush the dough with a thin layer of garlic butter, top with a layer of grated mozzarella cheese and slices of pepperoni.

TIP: Go easy on the garlic butter or your pizza will be too greasy.

Sprinkle with some grated Parmesan cheese and a little Italian seasoning.

Bake the pizza in the oven for 5 minutes.

Lift up the edge of the pizza and gently slide it from the pizza pan onto the pizza steel. Once the dough is par baked it’s so easy to slide the pizza onto the pizza steel.
Bake pizza for another 5-6 minutes until the underside of the pizza is golden brown.

Turn oven temperature to broil and toast pizza for 2-4 minutes or until the pizza crust edges start to burn in spots ever so slightly and blisters along the edges.
Remove pizza from the oven using a pizza peel. Cut pizza into slices using a pizza cutter to serve.

Not only is this pizza an economical alternative to overpriced pizzeria pizzas, it’s easy to make, and absolutely delicious too! Just be sure to go easy on the garlic butter, a little goes a long way. Use any leftover garlic butter to make the best tasting Garlic Bread you’ve ever tried! I have garlic butter hanging out in the fridge at all times. It’s great on bread, pizza, roasted veggies, roasted potatoes, mashed potatoes and baked potatoes too. Shoot, it makes anything you slather it onto delicious!
Once you give this easy cooking method a try, I’m betting that pizza will be making an appearance at the table more and more often. It is possible to make a pizza in your home oven that’s just as good as any pizza you can get from a pizzeria! Go on, give this method a try, you can thank me later.
