Pomegranate Spinach Salad: Is It Really The All-time Number One Salad Recipe?

Today’s post features the second recipe I have made from the latest Allrecipes magazine; Our All-Time Top Rated 5-Star Recipes.

Today we will determine if Jamie’s Pomegranate Spinach Salad recipe, featured on page 8, is truly deserving of it’s 5-star rating and #1 Salad Recipe title. Can it really beat a salad with a creamy blue cheese dressing or topple the king of all salad dressings…Ranch?

It’s definitely one of the prettiest salads I’ve ever made, but how does it taste?

My highly trained staff of food tasters are poised and ready to go. They have provided their unbiased opinions and input. As you already know, that would be my husband and my teenage son, LOL. Their qualifications you ask? They love to eat and they are pretty picky, probably much like your family. So if they both give it a thumbs up, we can be pretty sure we have a sure fire winner recipe on our hands.

So let’s get cooking!

Start by melting a tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat.

Add sliced almonds and stir to coat them in butter.

Stir and cook them until they are toasted and golden brown.

Yes those are bites on my rubber spatula, compliments of a hungry raccoon on a camping trip.

Remove from heat and set aside while you prepare the salad.

In a small bowl or in a jar with a lid, combine vegetable oil, white wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar, minced onion and paprika.

In a large bowl toss together spinach, pomegranate arils, dressing and toasted almond slices.

Serve topped with a sprinkle of poppy seeds and toasted sesame seeds.

So what’s the verdict? According to the magazine the recipe has been saved over 228 thousand times. But where the rubber really meets the road is how it tastes. We all know, even if it’s easy to make, if nobody likes it, it’s never going to make an appearance on your table for a second time, right? In our humble opinion…does it warrant the designation of all-time #1 salad recipe?

  • Teenager…won’t eat it, he hates salad!!! Sigh…
  • Hubs…LOVED IT!!! He went back and ate all the leftover salad in the salad bowl, very last bite of it.  5 stars
  • I loved how easy it was to make, and I thoroughly enjoyed the tangy dressing with just a hint of sweetness. The almonds and pomegranate arils add an interesting crunch and added a delightful texture. I give it a solid 4.75 stars. It’s hard to give a salad a top rating when you prefer creamy dressings. But this one was really yummy!

Overall an outstanding salad and we give it an overall rating of 4.85 stars. I can honestly say that this salad will definitely be making an appearance at the table again! An easy to make, gluten-free, healthy and delicious vegetarian salad. It checks all the boxes!

Give this one a try, it won’t disappoint!
