Seasonal summer decor for your home is all about easy, breezy, casual accents. Nothing heavy, nothing too complicated. Let’s face it, when the weather turns nice who wants to be cooped up in the house? Not me! The outdoors is calling and we must go.
Today I’m sharing some simple summer decor ideas to help you get your creative juices going. Nothing complicated, just some fun touches that you can easily incorporate in your home to give it a lighter feel during the hot summer months. You will still have plenty of time to enjoy all the fun activities that summer has to offer.
Take cues from what Mother Nature has on display. In my neck of the woods we have tall grasses covering all the hillsides gently blowing in the summer breezes. Look around you and bring what’s going on outside into your home.
Setting out bowls of fruit will not only add an instant pop of color to your kitchen, it might even tempt the kids to grab a healthier snack if it’s sitting out for them.
Repeating elements throughout your home will give it a cohesive look.
You don’t have to live on the coast to incorporate a coastal summer vibe in your home. Just be judicious and don’t overdo it. Summer touches are all about open, light and airy touches. Adding a few coastal inspired touches with seashells is always a beautiful, simple summer accent.
Display a special shell or piece of coral on a pedestal. It will give the item more prominence and bring it up close so you can appreciate its details.
Grouping small items together will give them more visual punch than sprinkling them all around a room covering every horizontal surface.
Bring items from your garden indoors. This sculpture has such a lovely crusty patina from sitting out in the weather for years.
Add flowers to your decor. Fresh flowers are always a beautiful accent no matter what the season. Not only are these Stargazer Lilies a gorgeous accent, their sweet scent will perfume the air in your home.
Adding seasonal faux flowers can also add a bright colorful pop to your interiors. Just make sure you invest in high quality ones that look real.
Display a summer inspired wreath on your front door.
Add plants to lighten up your interiors.
Plants will add an organic softness and summer vibe to you home.
You can add softness with artificial plants if you don’t have a green thumb.
Update the centerpiece on your kitchen table to reflect the summer season.
I hope I inspired you with some ideas that you can easily incorporate in your home to add a simple summer sensibility. Just remember to keep it simple, adding just a few accents to give your home a light, effortless feel for the summer.
Even if you feel like you don’t have a single decorating bone in your body, you can easily add any one of these simple touches to your home to give it a relaxed summer vibe. Too overwhelming? Start with just one or two simple touches. You can do this!
