Best Buttermilk Waffles

Waffles are such a treat but they aren’t just for breakfast. Do you ever get a hankering to have breakfast for dinner? These waffles are the perfect thing to make when you have excess buttermilk in the fridge that needs to be used up. Not only are they the perfect breakfast or brunch staple, they really hit the post for dinner too!

My favorite way to serve up waffles is topped with fresh strawberries or raspberries.

So delicious!

My guys love them served up classic style, topped with butter and pure maple syrup and a side of crispy bacon strips.

To start, plug in your waffle iron to get it preheated.

While the waffle iron is preheating, combine all the dry ingredients in a large bowl.

In another bowl combine all the wet ingredients.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Don’t over-mix the batter; it’s ok if there are a few lumps in the batter. The batter will be very thick.

Keep stirring, this isn’t quite combined enough.

Spray waffle iron with non stick cooking spray.

Place about ⅓ to ½ cup batter in the preheated waffle iron.

Cook waffles until cooked through and golden brown; about 3-4 minutes.

Serve with butter and pure maple syrup, or top with your favorite fresh fruit like strawberries, blueberries or raspberries.
