This is the perfect meal when you’re looking for something really tasty to get on the table, but don’t have the energy, desire, or a whole lot of time to spend in the kitchen. With a little planning and about 5 minutes of time in the morning before heading out the door, you will be coming home to the fantastic aroma of barbecued beef ready to be devoured. There are few things in life that bring more joy than opening the front door after a long day at work and being greeted by the scent of dinner ready to go. Well, ok, baking bread and fresh coffee brewing are good too…but this slow cooker BBQ Beef certainly comes in at the top three on the list.

How To Make Slow Cooked BBQ Beef Sandwiches:
Gather together the ingredients. Don’t stress, there’s just a few.

Place chuck roast in your slow cooker. No need to brown it on the stove either, gotta love that!

Add minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, pepper and beef broth to the slow cooker.

Add 1 cup of the BBQ sauce, reserve the other cup of BBQ sauce for later.

Place lid on the slow cooker and heat on low for 7-8 hours or until beef shreds easily with a fork.

Shred beef and stir in a second cup of BBQ sauce to the shredded beef in the slow cooker. Continue to cook until heated through, about 20-30 more minutes. Than gives you plenty of time to toast up some hoagie rolls with some melty cheese.

While beef heats, slice hoagie rolls in half and place sliced cheese onto each of the cut sides. Place in the oven and “broil” until the cheese gets all hot and bubbly and melty.

Place a generous amount of shredded beef onto each toasted, cheesy hoagie roll. Top each sandwich with French fried onions and serve. We love a little horseradish sauce on our Sammies too.

Oh my goodness, these sandwiches are always a HUGE hit with my family! I love how easy they are to make and they’re the perfect solution to dinner on a hectic, busy weeknight. You don’t need a fancy smoker to make a tender, delicious BBQ beef sandwich. Just grab your slow cooker; dust it off if you haven’t used it in a long while, and get cooking! You’ll be making these sandwiches on repeat all summer long.
I love to serve these sandwiches with a side of my mother’s Creamy & Delicious Potato Salad. It can be made ahead of time. It actually tastes best when it’s had time to hang out in the fridge overnight. You will find several potato salad recipes here on the blog, but this one is my all time favorite one to make. Easy to throw together and delicious, what more could you ask for?

Not in the mood for potato salad? These sandwiches pair beautifully with a side of Cast Iron Skillet Baked Beans. These irresistible savory, slightly sweet beans are infused with a smoky bacon flavor that makes them mouthwateringly delicious! Another family favorite.
