I adore a coastal vibe! I thought about why I am so drawn to anything beachy; seashells, starfish, sea glass. I realized it’s probably because I have so many wonderful family memories from summers spent at the coast with our boys over the years.
One of the amazing perks of living in northern California is that we are so close to the ocean; only a couple hours drive in the car and I can dig my toes in the sand at the beach with the ocean waves lapping at my feet.
We spent many summer camping trips along the pacific coast while our boys were growing up, and we were blessed to afford a couple of family trips to Maui over the years.
With spring and summer looming in the not too distant future, I am getting that itch to visit the beach that will need scratching soon.
But winter still has us firmly in its grip, so instead of a trip to the beach, today I decided to bring a little of the beach vibe home to me instead.
This is such an easy, fun DIY craft project that you can make on a rainy afternoon, with only a few simple items.
Items you will need for this project:
- Empty toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls
- Jute twine
- Hot glue gun
- Starfish and/or assorted seashells
I used empty toilet paper rolls for this project, since that is what I had on hand but empty paper towel tubes would work just as well. I cut each toilet paper tube into thirds.
Wrap each piece of tubing with twine and secure in place with hot glue as you wrap each tube. Be sure to completely cover the cardboard tube with the twine.
Once the tube is completely wrapped in twine adhere a starfish or seashell to the twine napkin ring with hot glue.
That’s it! Easy peasy!
