All The Flavors Of A Chili Cheese Dog In An Easy To Make Casserole

It’s been a long day, the kids are whining and hungry and even the thought of hopping in the car to pick up dinner just seems like too much of an effort. Sometimes you just need to get a tasty meal on the table quick, with a minimum of fuss. This chili cheese dog Frito casserole fits the bill. Not only is it easy to prepare in just a few short minutes, but it has all the wonderful flavors of a chili cheese dog in every tasty bite.

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Spread out half the Fritos corn chips in the bottom of a 13X9 inch casserole dish.

Top with sliced hotdogs in an even layer. Set aside.

In a saucepan heat the two cans of chili.

Spoon chili evenly over the layer of corn chips and hotdogs in the casserole dish.

Top with another layer of corn chips and a layer of shredded cheddar cheese.

Add siced black olives and sliced jalapeno peppers.

Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes or until casserole is hot and bubbly and the cheese is melted and starting to turn golden brown along the edges.

Serve topped with a generous dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of diced onions.

This casserole is surprisingly tasty considering it only takes about 5 minutes of effort to toss it all together. If you love chili dogs you will love this yummy casserole. Hands down, one of the easiest meals you will ever make.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cans chili
  • 1 bag Fritos corn chips
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 pkg beef hot dogs, sliced into ½ inch thick rounds
  • ½ cup diced onion
  • 1 can sliced black olives, drained
  • sliced pickled jalapeño peppers, optional
  • ½ cup sour cream

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Spread out half the Fritos corn chips in the bottom of a 13X9 inch casserole dish in an even layer and top with sliced hot dogs. Set aside.
  • In a saucepan heat the two cans of chili.
  • Spoon chili evenly over the layer of corn chips and hot dogs in the casserole dish.
  • Top chili with another layer of corn ships
  • Top corn chips with the remaining cheese.
  • Add siced black olives and sliced jalapeno peppers.
  • Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes or until casserole is hot and bubbly and the cheese is melted and starting to turn golden brown along the edges.
  • Serve topped with a generous dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of diced onions.
