An Easy To Make Pasta Meal; Gnocchi Steak Bites

When sirloin steaks go on sale, this meal is sure to make an appearance on our table! Yes another recipe with gnocchi, what can I say, I just adore those pillows of carby goodness! Pair them with juicy, perfectly seasoned bites of steak, marinated overnight till tender. Add in savory sliced mushrooms and you have the makings for an utterly delicious pasta meal. It covers three of the major food groups; protein, carbs and vegetables. Top it with some grated Parmesan cheese, there’s your dairy, and some fresh chopped parsley (more veg) and you got all the major food groups covered in one bowl.

I typically serve this pasta dish with a Rich & Creamy Caesar Salad With Crisp, Garlicky Toasted Croutons. The creamy home made Caesar dressing compliments this pasta dish perfectly.

This delicious pasta dish comes together in under 30 minutes, making it the perfect, quick and easy week night meal when time is short but you still want something that’s flavorful and delicious! This dish checks all those boxes.

The night before, prepare the meat. Cut Sirloin steak meat into 1 inch cubes trimming off any excess fat.

Combine onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, lemon juice, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar to make the marinade.

Add the marinade to the cubed steak in a large ziplock bag.

Seal ziplock bag, squeezing out excess air. Smush the marinade into the chunks of meat making sure it’s all coated with the sauce. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour; overnight is better.

Cook gnocchi according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

Drain off marinade and reserve meat.

In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat.

Cook sliced mushrooms until they release their liquid. Continue to sauté them until all liquid has cooked off and mushrooms are golden brown. Remove the mushrooms from the pan and keep them warm.

Add 2 tablespoons butter to skillet. Cook the steak bites in two batches adding more butter to the pan if needed. Do not crowd meat in the pan or it will steam instead of browning. Cook steak bites until crispy brown along the edges and cooked to a medium doneness.

Remove cooked meat from the pan and keep it warm.

Add 2 more tablespoons butter to the pan and cook minced garlic until fragrant, about 30 seconds, stirring constantly.

Add the drained cooked gnocchi to the pan and cook until lightly browned, stirring frequently, about 5 minutes. You want the gnocchi to crisp up a bit.

Return the sliced mushrooms, cubed beef and any juices that have accumulated in the dish back into the pan with the fried gnocchi.

Cook until everything is heated through, about 2 minutes, keep stirring, moving everything around in the pan as it reheats.

To serve, top each portion with some shredded parmesan cheese and fresh chopped parsley.

O-M-Goodness, this simple pasta dish, with its handful of simple ingredients packs a big punch of flavor. The marinated beef really adds a lovely punch to this dish. The mushrooms add a lovely umami flavor and the fried gnocchi add a creamy contrast to the party. Overall an outstanding pasta dish and one that you can get on the table in just about 30 minutes.
