Cheesy Breads

In my circle of family and friends I am legend for these cheesy little morsels of deliciousness!  I can’t even remember where I first came across this recipe. I’ve had it in my arsenal for decades.  I’m pretty sure it predates the internet, the “olden days” as my kids refer to that time before the internet existed.  LOL.

If you add this tasty appetizer recipe to your arsenal, you too can become legend for your culinary skills.  It has all the makings of a great appetizer, with its cheesy gooeyness melted on sour dough bread.

Drop everything right now, and get yourself to the store to pick up the ingredients so you can make these tonight.  I have a confession to make, I sometimes make these instead of garlic bread as a side dish.  I know it’s sinful, but you only live once!

Super Bowl Sunday is right around the corner and it’s the perfect time to make these cheesy morsels. Everyone will be gobbling them up and they will be gone before you know it. But these are so tasty its a crying shame to only make them once a year, it’s just plain sacrilegious not to make them all the time.  I personally must have these more than once a year.  I’ve been known to make up all kinds of excuses to make them, like, hey its Wednesday…let’s celebrate with some cheesy breads! You think I’m joking? I’m not!

Preheat oven to 375°

Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil.

Slice the baguette loaf of bread into ½ inch thick slices.

TIP:  For the very best results be sure to purchase a fresh baguette of Sourdough bread. No day old bread for these puppies please!

Place shredded cheddar cheese, green onion, black olives and Ranch dressing mix in a large mixing bowl.

Add the mayonnaise to the bowl.

Stir to combine all the ingredients until you have a creamy paste. Add more mayo if mixture seems dry.

TIP: Cheese spread can be made ahead and stored, covered in the refrigerator. When ready to make them, spread cheese mixture onto sliced bread and bake them up. Serve piping hot.

Spread the cheese mixture onto the bread slices.

Bake for 15 minutes.

Turn oven setting to “broil” and continue cooking until cheese is hot, bubbly, and lightly toasted.

Serve piping hot.

One of the problems with this recipe is how easy it is to make. It makes these very dangerous.  You will want to make them all the time.  Don’t make them every day!  You will want to, but it’s probably not the healthiest option.  Use caution when you are around these. After one bite you will lose all self control!  Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

This is one of the very first recipes I posted on Nature Way and it’s also become one of the most popular recipes on the blog. I hope you give this recipe a try, I promise, you won’t be disappointed.
