Use Leftovers To Make, Crave Worthy, Crispy Chicken Wontons

Who doesn’t enjoy fried food? Should you eat it everyday? Probably not but it’s a delicious, guilty pleasure to indulge in every once in a while. This easy appetizer checks all the boxes, tasty, delicious, and simple to make.

A tasty morsel of yumminess!

I love to make these when I have leftover chicken or pulled pork. I don’t know about you but my family is not a big fan of leftovers. Instead of tossing out extra food you have to become quite good at creating what I like to call left-over make-over recipes. Taking a leftover from last night’s dinner and turning it into a completely different meal.

I always have leftover chicken when I make my son’s favorite slow cooker chicken tacos. These wontons are so tasty, I intentionally cook up extra chicken breasts so I can use the leftovers to make these wontons! Nom-nom-nom…

I know I am a sneaky bugger, but I detest tossing out uneaten food. Lets get this recipe going so we can eat some of these tasty little morsels! Start by gathering together the ingredients.

I am using left-over pulled pork but the recipe calls for chicken. Either will work in this recipe.

In a large bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded chicken or pork, diced green chilis, chopped jalapeño peppers, bread crumbs, salt and minced garlic. Mix thoroughly. I used my stand mixer to do all the hard work for me.

You can use either a fresh diced jalapeño pepper or chop up pickled jalapeños. Use whatever you have on hand.

Adjust amount to your spiciness liking.

Mixture will look a lot like tuna salad when it’s combined.

Now it’s time to assemble these little pillows of deliciousness. Place a teaspoon of the meat filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.

Dip you finger in water and moisten edges of each wrapper with water.

Fold wonton wrapper in half, forming a triangle.

Press edges together firmly to seal.

Press out any air pockets.

Fold bottom two points toward the center forming an envelope shape.

Place wontons on a platter as you work. Cover filled wontons with a damp paper towel to prevent them from drying out.

In a wok or deep fryer, heat oil over high heat to 350°.

Fry wontons in oil, a few at a time, until golden brown, about 2 minutes.

Drain fried wontons on paper towel lined platter.

Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.

Our favorite sauces are hot mustard, sweet & spicy chili sauce and a wonton dipping sauce.

Careful, filling will be hot!

These are so good!!! They are a wonderful appetizer for your next party. I mean who doesn’t love a hot, crispy appetizer with a meaty, flavorful filling? Bring me about a dozen or so please!!!

Little envelopes of delightful deliciousness!
