Easy, Extra Creamy, Mac & Cheesy

I stumbled on this recipe years ago and I honestly can’t remember anymore where I found it. A huge thank you to whoever created this creamy, dreamy, deliciousness! It’s become one of our all time favorite sides. My youngest slurps it right up. It’s just as easy as making the boxed variety, but without the fake neon orange powdered cheese. I know I feel better serving my family wholesome foods that aren’t loaded with loads of additives, artificial flavors and preservatives. Especially when it’s just as easy to make. It’s a lip smacking good side that you will feel so much better serving to your family!

This creamy delightfulness comes together in just a few short minutes. It’s made on the stovetop, not baked in the oven. Gather together the ingredients needed.

Cook up a box of your favorite pasta according to the directions on the box. I typically use extra large macaroni, but you can use any shaped pasta you have in your pantry.

While the pasta is cooking, grate the cheddar cheese.

I use mild cheddar because it melts really well.

Once the pasta is done, remove from heat and drain.

Return drained pasta back to the pan. Add butter and grated cheddar cheese. Stir to get the cheese melting. No heat from the burner needed. The heat from the cooked noodles will get the cheese melted.

Add can of cheese soup, squeeze of mustard, salt and pepper.

Slowly start pouring in the evaporated milk. Keep stirring until you have a thick creamy, cheesy sauce. See how the heat from the cooked pasta melts the cheese and creates the dreamy, creamy sauce? Boy is it starting to look goo or what?

Serve this cheesy, gooey goodness immediately. Sit back and watch your kids shovel it in and wait for them to ask for seconds!

This creamy stovetop version of Mac & Cheese pairs perfectly with Sloppy Joe’s. Do you still enjoy making them? Try my favorite recipe that’s delicious served up with a side of Mac & Cheese for an easy, weeknight meal the whole family will enjoy.
