Fall Off The Bone, Tender, Slow Cooker, Barbecue Ribs

Sometimes it’s just too darn hot outside and standing over a hot barbecue grill babysitting a rack of ribs just doesn’t sound like much fun. Sometimes a craving for barbecued ribs hits you in the dead of winter. Standing out in the rain or snow babysitting a rack of ribs just isn’t going to happen.

Maybe you are like me and don’t own a fancy smoker. Getting a rack of ribs tender and juicy without burning them on a barbecue grill can be tricky and time consuming. There’s nothing worse than burnt, tough, dried out ribs…no thanks!

Ribs this tender and juicy from your slow cooker…who knew?

This recipe is for all the rest of us who don’t own a fancy smoker. Almost everyone has a slow cooker in the cupboard. Pull that puppy out and lets get these juicy, flavorful, tender, fall off the bone ribs going so we can enjoy them for dinner tonight.

I used a nice meaty rack of St. Louis style pork spareribs, Famous Dave’s Rib Rub for the seasoning and a Hickory Smoke flavored barbecue sauce.

Use a sharp knife to remove the membrane from the back side of the ribs. This will ensure you end up with tender ribs.

Season ribs liberally with barbecue spice seasoning. Use your hands to work the seasoning into the meat.

Pour barbecue sauce onto the ribs. Use your hands to coat ribs with barbecue sauce.

Cut rack into 3 or four pieces and place ribs in the slow cooker, meat side facing outward along the side of the slow cooker.

Cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours.  Ribs are done when meat is tender and easily comes off the bones.

We are almost done. In order to get a nice sticky, saucy rib we need to get these ribs in the oven for a few minutes. Preheat oven to 450°.

Carefully transfer ribs onto a cookie sheet, meat side up.

Baste ribs with remaining ½ cup of barbecue sauce.

Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes to brown sauce and ribs.

Remove from oven and cut rack into individual ribs to serve.

Be sure to serve these ribs with a stack of napkins. They’re oh so good but they sure are messy to eat.

Pair these amazing ribs with our new favorite, easy to make, Cracked Out Potato Salad for a truly tasty summer inspired meal. It’s creamy, loaded with bacon and cheese and it’s the perfect side for these ribs.

Adding bacon, cheese, Ranch and sour cream to potatoes…oh my!!!

Using your slow cooker and only 3 ingredients means you can enjoy these ribs any time of the year!
