A while back while working on chalk painting my China Hutch I was struck with a great idea. I love seasonal decorating and changing things up all the time, I have a really fun and easy idea to share with you today. And there is no painting required!
You may have a china hutch very similar to mine. One that has a mirrored back. While they are lovely and bounce the light around I have a creative idea to share with you to easily transform the look of your china hutch for the holidays.
Adding a fabric backing to cover the mirrors will give your hutch a festive holiday look. It is so easy to do too! For this easy, inexpensive project you will need about an hour of time, some cardboard, hot glue and some fabric in the color of your choice. And did I mention that there is no painting required?
Start by measuring the sections of the hutch that will be covered with fabric. Then cut out pieces of cardboard to fit.
Once you have cut out the pieces of cardboard, cover each piece with a length of fabric. I glued the fabric to the cardboard on the back side with hot glue.
I chose a red plaid for Christmas. I’m loving this festive red plaid. It really adds a lovely pop of holiday cheer.
The red plaid is the perfect foil for lighter pieces of china and silver. It really makes them pop!
You could use this idea for other holidays to add a festive touch and a pop of color. When you tire of it, all you have to do is pull the panel out. Easy peasy!
You don’t have to be handy or crafty to do this project. If you can use a hot glue gun you can do this project.
Before After
Let me know if you give this easy project a try and how it turns out for you.
This is such a creative idea, and what a wonderful and simple addition to the holiday feeling in your home! Thank you for sharing!
