How To Make A Delectable Mushroom Cream Sauce

It’s no secret that I’m a mushroom loving fool! This creamy sauce is loaded with delectable mushrooms, garlic and parmesan cheese. And if that doesn’t sound mouthwateringly delicious enough, the addition of smoky bacon to this scrumptious sauce takes the flavors to the moon. Spoon it over a perfectly grilled steak, for an amazing restaurant worthy meal, or turn ordinary grilled pork chops or chicken breasts into a real treat. It’s delicious tossed with pasta or spooned over a bed of creamy mashed potatoes. But my personal favorite? Stand over the stove and use sourdough slices of bread to scoop up this delectable sauce and shovel it straight into my mouth! Oh yah baby!!!

Cut bacon into ½ inch pieces and cook in a large skillet until browned and crisp.

Remove bacon from the pan using a slotted spoon.

Add sliced mushrooms to the skillet.

Cook mushrooms in the bacon fat until they release their liquid, the liquid cooks off, and mushrooms are golden brown, about 7-8 minutes.

Add minced garlic to the pan and cook, stirring constantly until fragrant, about 1 minute.

The recipe calls for 2 cloves, but we like lot’s of garlic so I always add more!

Add white wine to the skillet to deglaze the pan.

You can use chicken broth instead of wine if wanted.

Scrape up any browned bits in the bottom of the pan.

Add heavy cream, salt, pepper and half the parsley to the pan. Bring sauce to a simmer, about 2-3 minutes.

Add the grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce.

Stir until the cheese melts into a creamy sauce.

Return the reserved cooked bacon to the pan. Stir and heat through, about 1-2 minutes.

Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley to serve.

Serve over grilled steaks, pork chops, grilled chicken, a bed of mashed potatoes, or toss with cooked pasta.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 10 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, mind
  • ¼ cup dry white wine
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

  • Add cream, salt, pepper and half the parsley to the pan. Bring sauce to a simmer, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the grated Parmesan cheese to the pan and stir until the cheese melts into the sauce.
  • Return the reserved cooked bacon to the pan and heat through.
  • Serve over grilled steaks, grilled chicken or toss with cooked pasta.
  • Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley to serve.
