Over the years I’ve tried numerous different methods for making popcorn. Making it on the stovetop has become my go to method. It produces light fluffy popcorn every time. Once you get the basics down, you will pop a fluffy, flavorful bowlful every time.
Heat 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in a large pot. Place 3 kernels of popcorn in the pot. Use a pot with a glass lid if you have one so you can easily see when the kernels have popped.
TIP: Store popcorn kernels in an airtight container to keep them fresh longer.
Once the 3 kernels of corn have popped add the rest of your popcorn, about a 1/2 cup. Place lid back on the pot and gently move the pot around in a swirling motion.
TIP: The trick is to keep the kernels in the pot moving so that they don’t have a chance to burn.
Once all the kernels have popped, place the popped corn in a large bowl. Drizzle with melted butter and season liberally with salt.
Even with the melted butter, this is a much healthier snack for your kids than a bag of processed chips.
Enjoy!

Now that you have that big bowl of popcorn to enjoy, it’s time to settle in to watch a good movie or binge watch a Netflix original. Have you caught any episodes of Santa Clarita Diet, starring Drew Barrymore yet? Seriously quirky, twisted, dark humor, and I’m loving it! Check it out if you haven’t watched it yet, I think you will enjoy it!
