Souper Duper Slow Cooker Pot Roast

I found this recipe on Allrecipes.com many years ago and it’s the perfect meal for working moms. It takes a total of 1 minute 30 seconds to get it going in the slow cooker and produces a tender, melt in your mouth pot roast with an amazing gravy.

You can add any veggies you want, carrots, cubed potatoes, celery, but I keep it very simple and just add fresh mushrooms to it because we adore mushrooms. You can leave them out, but honestly, why would you? They taste divine in this gravy!

This is so easy to make it doesn’t really even qualify as a recipe. Only 3 simple ingredients, a chuck roast, cream of mushroom soup, and an envelope of French onion soup mix…that’s it.

I chunk up the roast into 4-5 pieces and place it in the bottom of my slow cooker. Whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, the envelope of onion soup mix and a soup can of water in a mixing bowl. I also add about a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce because I like the color it adds to the gravy.

Pour the sauce over the beef in the slow cooker.

Add mushrooms and what ever veggies you want to add.

Cook on low for 8-9 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. Beef will be super tender and falling apart.

Ingredients
  

  • 3-4 lb chuck roast, cut into large chunks
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 can water

Instructions
 

  • Place chuck roast in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk toegether cream of mushroom soup, onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce and water.
  • Pour sauce over meat.
  • Add mushrooms or any vegetables you desire to the slow cooker and give it a stir.
  • Cover and cook on low 8-9 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  • Serve over mashed potatoes, rice or noodles.

I always serve this over a bed of creamy mashed potatoes with a generous helping of the gravy and a loaf of freshly baked bread to soak up all the gravy.

It’s also delicious over rice or buttered noodles.

Be sure to bake a fresh loaf of bread to serve with this! You will need some to mop up all the delicious gravy!!!
