The Best Baked Hot Italian Sub Sandwich

We all have those evenings when we’re just to dog gone tired to prepare an elaborate meal for dinner. But what are you going to do when the family is hungry and you need to get something on the table that will please everyone? This sub sandwich to the rescue! It comes together in just a few minutes, it’s filling, absolutely delicious, and sure to please!

Skip the drive thru on your way home from work, grab some Hoagie rolls from the bakery instead and serve up these sandwiches when you’re just too wiped out to spend more than just a few short minutes in the kitchen. Yes, you can get a tasty meal on the table in under 20 minutes.

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F and line a cookie sheet with foil.

In a small bowl stir together mayo, Dijon mustard and horseradish sauce, set aside. This sauce is what makes this sandwich so ridiculously, deliciously outstanding!!!

If you like more heat add more horseradish sauce to the mix.

Cut loaf of bread or Hoagie rolls in half horizontally and place the halves on the foil lined cookie sheet, cut sides up.

Spread mayo mixture onto both halves of bread.

Divide pepperoncini pepper slices onto both halves of bread.

TIP: Place sliced peppers on a paper towel and pat them dry. This will prevent your sandwiches from getting soggy.

Top each half with ham, turkey, salami and pepperoni slices.

Top each half with cheese slices.

Sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired.

Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes until heated through and cheese is hot and melted. Remove from the oven and drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar if desired. Place the two halves together and cut sandwich in half to serve.

TIP: Turn temperature to broil and toast sandwiches until cheese is bubbly and starts to turn golden brown along the edges. Keep a close eye on the sandwiches to make sure they don’t burn.

Oh my these were sooooooo good!!!

I had fresh tomatoes from my garden so I snuck in a few slices.

Such an easy sandwich to make and it’s utterly delectable. The Horseradish sauce makes it absolutely irresistible!
