It’s amazing how easy it is to add some Christmas cheer with just a few pinecones, berries and sprigs of greenery. I personally adore using a traditional color pallet with red as an accent color for Christmas. The warm rich wood tones and neutral colors in my home lends itself beautifully to pops of red for the holidays.
For a cohesive pulled together designer look decide on a color scheme and stick with it throughout your entire home. Take a look around your home and decide on a color scheme that works best with your home’s existing color pallet.
Does it snow where you live? Maybe adding pops of white and silver or gold shimmer would work with your decor the best. Instead of red berry picks, use white and gold instead instead of the more traditional red that I am using as an example today. Add ribbon in the color you select. All you need to do is look out your window for some natural Christmas inspiration and bring what you see outside, indoors!
My personal top three favorite items to use in my holiday decor are pinecones, assorted greenery and berry picks. You can easily add holiday accents throughout your entire home with just these three simple items. I could easily create a lovely holiday vibe with just these three items. Add in a few spools of ribbon and I would be pretty much all set!
For example, place a few pinecones in a pretty silver bowl. Add a few sprigs of greenery and some red berries for an easy, peasy, festive holiday accent. Anyone can do this!

Let’s address the tree next! For most of us, the Christmas tree is the focal point of our holiday decor. It sets the tone for all the other decorations in our homes. I’m so excited because today I have loads of inspiration and ideas to share with you for creating a nature inspired Christmas tree! Nature makes it so very easy to create beautiful, inexpensive accents and ornaments for your tree.
I found an old grapevine wreath in the garage. Instead of using it in the traditional way as a wreath I deconstructed it and pulled the branches apart. I wrapped it loosely around the Christmas tree for a nature inspired garland. It adds loads of natural texture to an artificial tree and would look even lovelier on a live tree.
TIP: Pull the wreath apart outside. Deconstucting a grapevine wreath is a rather messy endeavor.
Add a bit of shimmer to your tree with these simple to make little mirror ornaments. Sandwich a bit of string between two mirrors with a dab of glue. Tucking them into the interior of your tree will bounce the light around and provide a lovely iridescence, glimmer and sparkle to your tree.
No nature inspired Christmas would be complete without pinecones! You can easily turn them into lovely ornaments for your tree. Attach a length of twine and a bow to a pinecone with a touch of glue. They are such a lovely natural accent for your tree.
Glue a bit of lace along the edge of a Sand dollar, add a loop of twine for a hanger to create a lovely nautical accent for the tree.
Hang dried citrus slices on your tree. The lights on your tree will highlight their beauty. These are mother natures version of stained glass. Just lovely! Plus they will scent your home with their wonderful fresh citrus fragrance.

Tie a bit of jute twine around a crisp white cloth napkin and tuck in a sprig of greenery and a cinnamon stick for a lovely nature inspired accent at each place setting for just a few pennies! I snipped a sprig of fresh rosemary from my garden. If you don’t have fresh rosemary, you can easily use a bit of pine greenery instead. Just use what you already have on hand.
Look for unexpected places to add greenery. Does the chandelier over your table lend itself to embellishments? Not only will adding greenery accented with pinecones and berries add a lovely holiday touch but it will draw the eye upward and add another level to your holiday decor.
