Does this sound familiar? You open a jar of pizza sauce, use half and pop the leftover sauce into the fridge till your next pizza night? You pull that half used jar of sauce out of the fridge only to find a fuzzy blue layer of mold along the edges. Yuck! What an utter waste! What if I told you that you can make your own pizza sauce in under 5 minutes. There’s no cooking required to make it either. It uses common everyday ingredients any reasonably well stocked kitchen will readily have on hand. It costs just a fraction of what a jar of prepared sauce costs, and it tastes better than most of the sauces you get on a pizza from a pizzaria. Have I piqued your interest? Keep reading to find out how easy it is to make, and you’ll never have to throw out moldy, spoiled pizza sauce ever again.

How To Make The Very Best, Homemade Pizza Sauce:
Place tomato sauce, tomato paste, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, onion powder, and sugar in the bowl of a blender. Yes sugar. It plays an important role in the overall flavor of the sauce. It cuts the acidity of the tomatoes, so don’t leave it out.

Pulse until all the ingredients are well combined and you have a smooth paste. The sauce will be rather thick, not runny.

The large cup container on my Magic Bullet Blender is the perfect size to whip up a batch of this sauce, and makes storing it in the fridge till I’m ready to use it very convenient. No extra dishes to wash, gotta love that! If you don’t happen to have one I can highly recommend it. Not only is it perfect for blending up a batch of this pizza sauce, I use it all summer long to quickly whip up fresh fruit smoothies. It takes just seconds to whip up a perfect healthy sweet treat all summer long. It’s compact size takes up less space in the cupboard and its the perfect size for whipping up salad dressings as well. I’m always hesitant to purchase more kitchen gadgets, but I’m so glad I decided to get this Magic Bullet Blender. I pull this little guy out more than almost any other kitchen gadget in my pantry. It’s a real workhorse in my kitchen.
Once all the ingredients are blended together, cover the sauce and refrigerate until ready to use.

Spread sauce onto pizza crust. I find using the back of a spoon works well. Normally I’m an “easy on the sauce” kinda girl, but this sauce is so good I really like to slather it on!

Add cheese and your favorite pizza toppings.

This sauce is da bomb!
Store leftover sauce:
Spoon any extra sauce in into ice cube trays and freeze.

Once the sauce is frozen, transfer the frozen cubes of sauce into ziplock baggies, press out excess air, seal and store in the freezer for up to 4 months.

A large pizza will use about 5-6 cubes of sauce, depending on how saucy you like it.
You can store all the sauce in one large baggie or divide it up into smaller baggies so that each bag has just enough sauce for one pizza.

Defrost frozen sauce in the microwave or drop the entire ziplock baggie into a sink full of warm water to thaw in just a few minutes.

Instead of baking your pizzas on a baking stone that will crack over time, invest in a cast iron pizza steel instead. I’ve shelled out a small fortune over the years replacing broken baking stones that invariably crack, no matter how careful I am. For about the same price as baking stone, I finally invested in a cast iron pizza steel that will last me a lifetime. It hangs out on the bottom rack of my oven when I’m not using it (which I’ve found also helps regulate the temperature inside the oven) and I use it for baking cookies, garlic breads; just about anything you typically use a baking sheet for.
