I have a real soft spot for Mediterranean foods. I adore the fresh dill, zesty red onion, cool crisp cucumbers, and tangy lemon juice paired with creamy Greek yogurt and Feta cheese that is ubiquitous with most Mediterranean dishes. And these easy to make ground beef Gyros are no exception. They pack an enormous amount of fresh flavor in every single bite! Not only are they super easy to prepare, but their fresh flavor profile will have your mouth watering. What’s even better is that this quick to prepare, delicious meal is good for you too!

Keep things super simple and use a store bought Tzatziki sauce and a package of Naan bread if you are short on time on a busy weeknight. But if you’re feeling more ambitious and have the time, make your own homemade Naan bread and whip up some fresh Tzatziki sauce. It’s easier to do than you think! This Tantalizing Tzatziki Sauce comes together in just a few quick minutes and tastes better than anything you can pick up at the market.
MAKE AHEAD TIP: Tzatziki sauce can be made a day ahead and refirgerated until ready to use. Just give it a good stir before using it.

This Easy To Make Garlic Naan Bread is the perfect vessel to hold the delectable filling for these ground beef gyros. Find out how easy it is to make by clicking on the link above. If your’e lucky to have any extras, the bread is a delicious scoop for hummus!

If you have a food processor and a can of garbanzo beans, you can easily whip up the absolute best tasting hummus in just a few minutes. Christina’s Heavenly Hummus is a personal favorite around here and it’s far superior to any of the store bought varieties. It’s the perfect side to serve up with these gyros! Drizzle with a good tasting olive oil and a sprinkle of paprika to serve.

To make the gyros, start by placing ground beef, minced garlic cloves, smoked paprika, ground cumin, kosher salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix together until all ingredients are well combined. Divide meat into 6 equal sized portions.

Press each portion of the beef mixture onto a Naan bread round.

Press beef as thin as possible all the way out to the edges of the Naan bread rounds. The beef will shrink up as it cooks.

Prepare the Mediterranean slaw:
Chop lettuce, parsley, red onion, and pepperoncini peppers.

If you have fresh dill on hand, chop it and add it to the bowl. I hesitate to buy the large bunches of fresh dill at the market. They are quite expensive and when a recipe only calls for a few tablespoons, a lot of it ends up going to waste. I find that the freeze dried dill works beautifully in this recipe and keeps for a long time so you always have it on hand when you need it. This is what I typically use when a recipe calls for chopped dill.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded lettuce, chopped parsley, dill, Feta cheese, chopped pepperoncini peppers, chopped red onion, diced cucumber, Tzatziki sauce and lemon juice. Stir until well combined.

Set aside the slaw and Tzatziki sauce while you cook the beef.
MAKE AHEAD TIP: Combine all the ingredients except for the lettuce and refrigerate until ready to serve. Stir in the shredded lettuce right before you are ready to use it so the lettuce stays nice and crisp.

Cook Gyros:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place naan bread, meat side down in the hot skillet.

Press the Naan bread down firmly into the skillet with a spatula as the beef cooks to keep it as flat as possible, 3-4 minutes, or until beef is browned and cooked through.

Flip and cook Naan bread for another 1-2 minutes or until heated through. Repeat with remaining Naan bread rounds.

Assemble and serve Gyros:
Top ground beef patties with some of the Mediterranean slaw.

Top with sliced tomatoes.

Add a generous drizzle of Tzatziki sauce to serve.

This might just be one of my favorite Mediterranean meals ever! The slaw packs a huge amount of fantastic flavor! Not only are these gyros mouthwateringly delicious, but if you decide to use store bought Tzatziki sauce and store bought Naan bread, you can have this tasty, good for you meal on the table in under 30 minutes.

Go ahead, take a big bite, you know you want to! These gyros are oh so stinking good! And they’re good for you too! Who ever said that healthy food can’t be absolutely delicious obviously never tried these gyros! These get wolfed down at my house! You must try them, you won’t be disappointed, I promise!!! Cross my heart!!!
