As a child I remember my mother would often cook up Country Style Spareribs. She would season them with a little salt and pepper, dredge them in flour, and fry them in some butter. We had them often when I was growing up. When I think of ribs, I don’t typically think of Country Style pork spareribs anymore. They are still an inexpensive cut of meat and they are much meatier than the rack of baby back, or St. Louis style ribs most of us are accustomed to tossing onto the barbecue in the summer. If you decide to make these ribs, look for bone-in Country Style spare ribs for the best flavor. You can certainly use boneless, if that’s all you can find, but the bone-in ribs tend to be much juicier and much more flavorful when cooked.

Good To Know: These are not the regular spareribs you are probably used to cooking. Country style spareribs are a more meaty cut that can be purchased with either the bone-in or boneless. This cooking method calls for country style spareribs not a regular rack of ribs. If you are using a regular rack of pork ribs like baby back ribs this cooking method may not produce the same results, and the cook times will vary significantly from what is outlined in this recipe.
Place spareribs in a large pot and cover them with water.
Stir in salt, pepper and garlic powder.
Cover the pot with a lid and bring water to a boil.
Once water comes to a boil, reduce heat and simmer spareribs for 45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350℉.
Remove ribs from the pot of water using tongs and transfer them to an oven safe baking dish.
Pour BBQ sauce over the ribs, turning them with the tongs to coat them with the BBQ sauce.
Cover dish with foil.
Bake spareribs for 1 to 1½ hours until or they reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
Remove from oven and coat with additional BBQ sauce if desired.
Serve hot with your favorite sides.
